THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARCTIC FURY (C Maujean) and ZENA ROSE (K Matsunyane) lost one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) PULL A FAST ONE (S Moodley) over-raced in the early and middle stages. b) Jockey J Jacobs reported that he felt something amiss with LADY PLATINA in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey T Godden reported that SWEET REUNION did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of UMZOLOZOLO (R A Venniker) (18.65 lengths, 8/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E ; Guideline M), in that as the rider of HODGEPODGE, he mis-used his crop by striking this filly more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. f) GREENLITEALLTHEWAY (C F Dicken), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
