THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SCARLET (*V Jodhee) jumped awkwardly inwards leaving the stalls. b) OLD FASHIONED (L Nhlapo) was slow losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LETONA (P Mxoli) hung out from the 300m. b) Approaching the 200m, KWAGGA BLITZ (P Strydom) was brushed in by ESPINOZA (J Gates), which shifted in away from the crop and was corrected. c) In the concluding stages, POTBERRIE (G Lerena) was steadied in anticipation of being awkwardly placed between RINGHO (R Danielson) and ESPINOZA (J Gates), which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. d) In view of this performance of SCARLET (*V Jodhee), which took a number of awkward strides in running, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Apprentice T Mayhew reported that RAWALPINDI did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) Apprentice V Jodhee, the rider of SCARLET, rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. g) Jockey P Strydom (KWAGGA BLITZ) was charged with a contravention of Rule 66.4 in that he weighed back in, in excess of 1kg over the weight at which he was declared out. Jockey P Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. h) PACIFIC (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee P de Palma, acting on behalf of Trainer S J Gray, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) POTBERRIE raced without blinkers (declared 25 September 2024 at 08H56). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RAWALPINDI examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) SCARLET mouth injury. c) ESPINOZA scalp wound right hind.
