DOUBLE GEMINI (K de Melo) had to be led to the start.Trainer S Humby will be advised that should this gelding behave similarly in future it may be suspended.Leaving the 400m, STAFF SERGEANT (C Habib) and WHATEVERITTAKES (W Kennedy) had to ease when awkwardly placed between DIVINE HUGH (A Marcus) which rolled out, and ON THE BAYOU (*D Schwarz) which had come to the end of its run and shifted in marginally. CHEROKEE CHIEF (*L Ferraris) was hanging in from the 400m. Thereafter,Apprentice L Ferraris the rider of CHEROKEE CHIEF (10.35 lengths) reported that this colt made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running.The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.Jockey B Jacobson the rider of SWANKING (13.85 lengths) reported that this gelding took no interest in the running.The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.Approaching the 1600m, TINKER TAILOR (G Wright) had to ease when racing on to the heels of SWANKING (B Jacobson) which shifted in.Apprentice L Ferraris signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, in that he struck the horse CHEROKEE CHIEF more than 12 times in the entire race.The Board in determining the penalty, considered Apprentice Ferraris'record with regard to contraventions of this Rule as well as well as the manner in which he used his crop.Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R750 was imposed.DIVINE HUGH (A Marcus) the winner,was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.Assistant Trainer P Muscutt acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford advised.Jockey K de Melo replaced Jockey D Dillon on DOUBLE GEMINI.Apprentice K Sakayi replaced Jockey S Randolph on TIGER TANK.JET LIGNITE raced fitted with blinkers.The veterinary surgeon reported:SWANKING:Not striding out right hind.CHEROKEE CHIEF: Abnormal respiratory noise.
