THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey N Patel (SUNSHINE DAY) appeared before the Board with regard to his riding in this Race, in particular to his riding in the early part of the straight. Mr Patel explained that it was his intention to give this filly a patient ride to give her the best opportunity of finishing the Race off strongly. He further stated that after being positioned closer to the lead than anticipated, he was happy to only gradually encourage SUNSHINE DAY from the 350m. In addition, he explained that as this filly began to quicken, at a crucial stage SHANTA'S PRIDE (M Yeni) rolled in resulting in him being inconvenienced and thereafter becoming briefly baulked. Mr Patel's explanation was confirmed by the video evidence. However, he was advised that should he ride horses in a manner that deviates from the norm, he should advise the Stewards prior to the running of the Race in question. b) The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine SUNSHINE DAY (N Patel). c) RUSSIAN DOLL (R Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
