THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HAT MAN (*DB Geerthsen) and FOREST FANTASY (Y Ramzan) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SMART VIEW was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 35 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer GD Smith was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer GD Smith was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 37 mmol/L and that consequently SMART VIEW was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 12h19, 33/10 in the betting). SMART VIEW was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised (Dr E Reynders) b) NEWTON HEATH (C Maujean) clipped the heels of SERENDIPITOUS (E Webber), stumbled badly and became unbalanced for a number of strides, which resulted in Jockey C Maujean (NEWTON HEATH) losing his left-side stirrup iron when SERENDIPITOUS (E Webber) shifted in sharply at approximately the 800m. Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of SERENDIPITOUS he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to NEWTON HEATH when he shifted in sharply at approximately the 800m. Jockey E Webber signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: 05/10/2024 to 11/10/2024, both dates inclusive) c) HAT MAN (*DB Geerthsen) was hanging in from approximately the 300m. d) At approximately the 200m SERENDIPITOUS (E Webber) and COLONEL GREEN (C Zackey) came together and brushed on a number of occasions when SERENDIPITOUS (E Webber), shifted out away from the crop and COLONEL GREEN (C Zackey) shifted inwards. e) COLONEL GREEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
