THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MEDITERANEANGODDES (E Webber) was stubborn loading. b) BLUEBERRY BLUE (M van Rensburg) was nervous in the stalls. c) BRETTY (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing one length. d) MY TRUE LOVE (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) JAMBO SANA (C Zackey) was hanging in, shifted inwards badly, throughout. b) At approximately the 250m MY TRUE LOVE (R Fourie) had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between the inside running rail and MEDITERANEANGODDES (E Webber), which reacted slightly when JAMBO SANA (C Zackey), which was hanging in, shifted inwards from the 350m. Jockey E Webber, the rider of the 2nd placed horse, MEDITERANNEANGODDES, lodged an objection against the 1st placed horse, JAMBO SANA (C Zackey) on the grounds of interference from the 200m. The Objection Board, after giving due regard to the evidence put forward, reviewing the patrol films and giving consideration to the margin of 3.75 lengths between the two horses concerned, was satisfied that MEDITERANNEANGODDES (E Webber) would not have finished ahead of JAMBO SANA (C Zackey) had this incident not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection. The Objection Board considered this objection to be unwarranted, without any prospects of success, and consequently declared the Objection fee forfeit and imposed a fine of R3 000.00 in terms of Rule 67.7.3. c) BLUEBERRY BLUE (M van Rensburg) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) d) An Inquiry will be opened into why MEDITERANEANGODDESS was not on course sixty minutes prior to the starting time of Race 3. e) JAMBO SANA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer AC Smith signed on behalf of Trainer GD Smith. (LM) f) MEDITERANEANGODDES, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
