THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HIERSDIEDING (P Mxoli) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) COME ON YOU SPURS (M van Rensburg) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start OLIVER TWIST (R Fourie), which jumped awkwardly outwards, made contact with MAYOR OF MERRIVALE (Y Ramzan). b) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with WAR OF HEARTS and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer GD Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) Jockey Y Ramzan (MAYOR OF MERRIVALE) dropped his crop at approximately the 200m. d) OLIVER TWIST (R Fourie) had to be switched out to obtain clear running at approximately the150m and thereafter, this colt took a number of awkward strides in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer GD Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this colt on his return to the stables. e) Jockey P Mxoli reported that HIERSDIEDING changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) STORM BOULEVARD (L Mxothwa) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) g) KOHANA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised.
