THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BEER WITH THE BOYS (K Matsunyane) was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. b) GLOBAL REEF (R Fourie) and ANCHOR MAN (D Schwarz) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) STORMSTRIDE (*DB Geerthsen) over raced in the early and middle stages and compounded in the straight. b) Trainer TJ Laing appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the improved performance of GARDENER'S PRIDE in relation to this gelding's previous run on 6 September 2024. She explained that, in her opinion, this gelding was better suited to the longer distance of today's race, accompanied by the fact that he raced against weaker opposition today as compared to his previous run. Trainer TJ Laing's explanation was noted. c) GARDENER'S PRIDE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised.
