THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AQUILA GOLD (M Yeni) and WAR SWORD (D Schwarz) were nervous in the stalls. b) GLOBETONIC (S Naidoo) was nervous in the stalls and fly-jumped leaving the stalls, losing one length. c) MAGIC PRINCE (*T Mayhew) and GOLDEN CORN (*DB Geerthsen) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) EXPLOSIVE SPEED (C Zackey) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer GD Smith was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. b) AQUILA GOLD (M Yeni) was hanging in from the 400m. c) EXPLOSIVE SPEED (C Zackey) and GUARDING THE WALL (L Mxothwa) were hanging in from the 350m. d) Jockey L Mxothwa (GAURDING THE WALL) dropped his crop at the 50m. e) Jockey S Naidoo reported that GLOBETONIC did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. f) In view of the performance of GOLDEN CORN (*DB Geerthsen) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. g) COASTAL PATH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
