THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) SI GIOCA (X Ndlovu) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates.
b) QUEEN OF JAZZ (C Zackey) and KOMESANS PASSION (Y Ramzan) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) SEPTEMBER FLOWER was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer AC Greeff was advised that, in terms of the procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. The second blood specimen revealed a level above the threshold of 38 mmol/L and consequently SEPTEMBER FLOWER was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 15h26, 33/10 in the betting). SEPTEMBER FLOWER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised (Dr E Reynders)
b) PITZUCHIM (D Schwarz) was hanging in from the 300m.
c) QUEEN OF JAZZ (C Zackey) took an awkward stride at approximately the 150m.
d) Apprentices N Nastili and T Mayhew reported that SEE YOU IN A BIT and QUERANDI respectively did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies.
Trainers K Mitchley and Z Oosthuizen respectively were advised to report back should they find anything amiss with these fillies on their return to the stables.
e) Jockey D Schwarz reported that PITZUCHIM did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) RAIN BIRD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised. (LM)
