THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE ABDICATOR (IRE) (R Fourie) rushed the front gates and fly-jumped leaving the stalls. b) PIROSHKA (K Steyn) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stewards reviewed the start of this race in regards to THE ABDICATOR (IRE) (R Fourie) in stall gate 8 and established that this gelding had rushed the front gate as the start was effected and then fly-jumped leaving the stalls. As a consequence, Jockey R Fourie was unbalanced and THE ABDICATOR (IRE) was slow into stride. The Stewards were satisfied that this gelding had not been impeded nor had it gained an advantage and took no further action. In view of the report from the Starter regarding THE ABDICATOR (IRE) (R Fourie), Trainer B Crawford will be advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. b) Shortly after the start HANDSOME PRINCE (G van Niekerk) was bumped on both sides when racing tight between MOJO MAN (S Veale) and BLUE HOLLY (D Schwarz), which shifted out marginally leaving the stalls. c) Approaching the 100m THE ABDICATOR (IRE) was steadied when Jockey R Fourie anticipated that a narrow run between the inside running rail and HANDSOME PRINCE (G van Niekerk), which shifted in and was straightened, would close. d) DEAN STREET, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
