THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) UBISIKA (C Zackey) and GOLDEN LINK (L Mxothwa) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) The start of this race was delayed due to the thirty-three minute interval between races. This was compounded by UBISIKA (C Zackey), GOLDEN LINK (L Mxothwa) and PROPHET (C Maujean) arriving slightly late at the start.
b) ANUSCHKA'S WORLD (M Yeni) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
c) GOLDEN LINK (L Mxothwa) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
d) ANUSCHKA'S WORLD (M Yeni) changed legs and took an awkward stride shortly before the finish.
e) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with UBISIKA and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Trainer GD Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
f) PROPHET (C Maujean) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders)
g) Trainer GD Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of UBISIKA. Trainer GD Smith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R500,00.
h) GOLDEN LINK, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (LM)
