THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLUE PALACE (M van Rensburg) fly-jumped leaving the stalls, losing two lengths. b) LIGHT OF DAY (S Khathi) jumped slow, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) KILMONIVAIG was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. Trainer TJ Laing was advised that, in terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen would be collected. Trainer TJ Laing was informed that the second blood specimen had revealed a level above the threshold of 38 mmol/L and that consequently KILMONIVAIG was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 15h14, 14/1 in the betting). KILMONIVAIG was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised (Dr E Reynders) b) VINTAGE CRYSTAL (M Yeni) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. c) Leaving the 350m CHRONICLESOFNANIA (C Maujean) was carried inwards by CAN'T SAY NO (X Ndlovu), which shifted in sharply. d) Trainer GD Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of TRUE DESIGN. Trainer GD Smith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R750,00. e) CAN'T SAY NO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
