DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, ZYAKALA (D SCHWARZ) NUDGED THE FRONT GATES OPEN. THIS GELDING WAS RESTRAINED BY THE RIDER, RETURNED TO THE START, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON, DECLARED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) During the loading process, BRIGHTEST BLAZE (L Nhlapo) kicked the back gate resulting in ZYAKALA (D Schwarz) breaking through the front gate. This gelding was restrained by the Rider, returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.
Trainer S G Tarry was advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT).
b) WHAT A PREDATOR (J Greyling) was restless, lost three lengths and thereafter slow into stride.
Trainer D Cason will be advised to reschool this gelding prior to his next engagement (GT).
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) As the start was effected, WHAT A PREDATOR (J Greyling) was slow away and thereafter slow into stride. WHAT A PREDATOR (J Greyling), unable to make up the deficient, trailed the field throughout.
b) At approximately the 900m, CAN YOU DANSE (C Habib) was brushed by PURSUIT OF FAME (P Strydom), which was directed outwards away from the heels of POTBERRIE (M Yeni).
c) POTBERRIE (M Yeni) hung out in the concluding stages.
d) Jockey P Strydom reported that PURSUIT OF FAME did not stride out freely in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Trainer J A Visser was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of PURSUIT OF FAME on return to stables
e) SEA WOLF (K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.

JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) BIG BOY BRUCE was ridden by Jockey M van Rensburg (declared 16 October 2024 at 10H59).
RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a) BRIGHTEST BLAZE raced equipped with a compression mask and blinkers (declared 15 October 2024 at 11H09).
b) BIG BOY BRUCE raced equipped with a compression mask and ear muffs (declared 16 October 2024 at 09H52).
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) PURSUIT OF FAME examined post race, nothing obvious detected.
b) ASIAN DELIGHT coughing post race.
c) ENFLAME blowing post race.
d) ON TARGET cast its left front shoe in running.
SCRATCHED:
a) UNDER THE RAINBOW coughing (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
b) GREEN SAPPHIRE cut left front (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
