THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY (M van Rensburg) was stubborn loading and thereafter was slow into stride.
b) CHOC' LATE (*DB Geerthsen) was nervous in the stalls.
c) GOTCHA BUZZ (D Schwarz) jumped slow, losing one length.
d) LUCK STRUCK (E Webber) and LUCKY SPIRIT (M Yeni) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) LUCKY SPIRIT (M Yeni) recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer K Mitchley was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level.
b) SON OF ERUPT (Y Ramzan) jumped outwards and made contact with HOUSE OF SUSSEX (C Zackey) shortly after the start.
c) Shortly after the start, GOTCHA BUZZ (D Schwarz) and LUCK STRUCK (E Webber) came together and bumped.
d) Shortly after the start MAFIABAGSTHEMONEY stumbled, which resulted in Jockey M van Rensburg becoming unbalanced for a number of strides.
e) LUCK STRUCK (E Webber) failed to muster speed from the 800m and raced detached from the field to the finish.
f) SON OF ERUPT (Y Ramzan) was hanging in from the 300m.
g) HOUSE OF SUSSEX (C Zackey) was hanging in from the 200m.
h) In view of the performance of AND ACTION (R Fourie) (Betting 28/10; Distance 9.25 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables.
i) BROOKSIDER (C Maujean) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders)
j) LUCKY SPIRIT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
