THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VIVO PER LEI (D Schwarz) and DOUBLE DASH (*I Taka) made contact leaving the stalls. b) BELLA'S LEGEND (K Steyn) and LAVENDER BAY (C Orffer) made contact leaving the stalls. c) NIGHT IN JAPAN (G Wright) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start SEE THE SIGN was squeezed out between LOTUS ISLAND (C Zackey) and ENGLISH MISTRESS (A Domeyer), both of which shifted ground marginally. b) NIGHT IN JAPAN (G Wright) proved difficult to settle in the early stages. c) At the 1400m DOUBLE DASH (*I Taka), which proved difficult to settle in the early stages, was steadied and shifted outwards when close to the heels of VIVO PER LEI (D Schwarz). d) ENGLISH MISTRESS (A Domeyer) shifted in away from the crop in the concluding stages. e) POCKET DIAL (JP van der Merwe) stumbled in the pull-up area and cast its left front shoe. f) In view of the performance of LOTUS ISLAND (C Zackey), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. g) POCKET DIAL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. Nothing obvious detected.
