THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GRAPE SHOT (C Habib) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In view of the performance of THE GHOST (M Yeni) (6.05 lengths, 9/4 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) MAURITANIA was selected for the taking of specimens for TCO2. testing. The first specimen analysed at 14h59 revealed a level of over 36 TCO2. mmol/L. In terms of the Procedure for Total Carbon Dioxide (TCO2) analysis on Raceday, a second blood specimen was collected. Trainer W Whitehead was informed that the second blood specimen, analysed at 15h10 had revealed a level of over the threshold of 38 mmol/L. Consequently MAURITANIA was scratched from this race in terms of the provisions of Rules 72.1.23; 4.2.14 and 4.2.18. (Withdrawn at 15h20, 28/2 in the betting). c) CHELSEA FLOWER (C Zackey), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
