THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) RICHARD THE FIRST (G Lerena) and KARATE KID (P Mxoli) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b) CIAN THE CONQUEROR (M van Rensburg) jumped outwards making contact with the left-side front gate leaving the stalls.
c) THUNDERSTONE (D De Gouveia) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
d) PAISLEY PARK (C Habib) was slow losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) As the start was effected, ESQUEVELLE (R Danielson) was bumped by THUNDERSTONE (D De Gouveia), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
b) Shortly after the start, HALBERDIER (M Yeni) was bumped in by KARATE KID (P Mxoli), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
c) CIAN THE CONQUEROR'S (M van Rensburg) head made contact with the left-side front gate leaving the stalls. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) Jockey D De Gouveia (THUNDERSTONE) did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. Thereafter, Jockey D De Gouveia reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
Assistant Trainer C Botha, acting on behalf of Trainer R R Magner was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of THUNDERSTONE on return to stables.
e) Leaving the 400m, ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES (*T Mayhew) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed between AFTER THE RAIN (C Zackey), which hung out from the 500m, and BOB'S YOUR UNCLE (*G Samo-Burthia).
f) KARATE KID (P Mxoli) hung out in the concluding stages.
g) BOB'S YOUR UNCLE (*G Samo-Burthia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (MS).
h) CIAN THE CONQUEROR (M van Rensburg), unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (AH).
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a) ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES: Apprentice T Mayhew weighed out at 54,3kg, only claiming 2kg of his 2,5kg of apprentice allowance as declared.
b) THUNDERSTONE: Jockey D De Gouveia weighed out at 54,7kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
