THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MHLABENI (C Maujean) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls and jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) GIMME'S LADDIE (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) CLIFF TOP (S Veale) and PYROMANIAC (*DB Geerthsen) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ANUSCHKA'S WORLD (M Yeni) over raced in the early and middle stages. b) Jockey D Schwarz (EVIES FIRST) dropped his crop at approximately the 250m. c) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of CLIFF TOP he misused his crop by striking CLIFF TOP more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00. d) FAIRY KNIGHT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
