THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start BLACK EGRET (G Wright) rolled in and was brushed on the hindquarters on two occasions by WAR CHARIOT (JP van der Merwe). Shortly thereafter, WAR CHARIOT (JP van der Merwe) was steadied and taken in behind runners. b) Racing into the turn at the 1100m NIGHT BOMBER (R Fourie) had to be checked and directed outwards to avoid the heels of BLACK EGRET (G Wright), which shifted in away from DUMBLEDORE (S Veale), which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. As a consequence, ZOOMIE (L Mxothwa) had to be steadied away from the heels of NIGHT BOMBER (R Fourie). Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of DUMBLEDORE he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to NIGHT BOMBER when he shifted in at the 1100m. Jockey S Veale signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates to be advised) c) Jockey A Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking BJORN IRONSIDE forward of the saddle leaving the 100m. Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. d) DUMBLEDORE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised.
