THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUEEN OFTHE PALACE (S Khathi) was stubborn loading. b) NATURAL WONDER (*DB Geerthsen) was nervous in the stalls. c) GOTCHA BUZZ (L Mxothwa) and POISE PANACHE (S Naidoo) jumped slow, losing two lengths. d) PONTE VECCHIO (E Webber) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start RUBY CLAIRE (C Zackey) made contact with TUNE AGAIN (M van Rensburg), when TUNE AGAIN (M van Rensburg) jumped inwards, which resulted in RUBY CLAIRE (C Zackey) becoming unbalanced for a number of strides. b) ALPINE DIAMOND (Y Ramzan) over raced in the early and middle stages. c) DIRTY MIMOSA (K Minnie) shifted out from the 350m, for a significant amount of ground, and made contact with TUNE AGAIN (M van Rensburg) shortly before the finishing line. Jockey K Minnie appeared before the Board and was warned that this is the second occasion that he has been reprimanded regarding this type of incident. If he persists in riding in this the manner in future engagements, he may be sanctioned. d) PONTE VECCHIO (E Webber) shifted out away from the crop between the 400m and the 200m and was corrected. e) Jockey S Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of QUEEN OFTHE PALACE he misused his crop by striking QUEEN OFTHE PALACE more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey S Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R6000,00. f) QUEEN OFTHE PALACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised. (LM) g) GOTCHA BUZZ, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
