THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) MAXIGIRL (L Mxothwa) was nervous in the stalls.
b) CARVED IN STONE and CHEAP THRILLS (D Schwarz) were nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing two lengths.
c) KAROO BOKKIE (C Habib) and VERY VAR VAR (E Webber) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start CHEAP THRILLS (D Schwarz) was buffeted between SIERRA SKY (S Khathi), which jumped inwards and TAKE YOUR TIME (*DB Geerthsen), which jumped outwards slightly, which resulted in CHEAP THRILLS (D Schwarz) having to be steadied for a number of strides.
b) MAXIGIRL (L Mxothwa) over raced in the early and middle stages.
c) MAXIGIRL (L Mxothwa) was hanging in between the 300m and 200m and was corrected. Thereafter, MAXIGIRL (L Mxothwa) shifted outwards away from the crop and carried BEIJING BOULEVARD (M Yeni) outwards slightly.
d) GLOBAL SCENE (C Maujean) returned with a unilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden)
e) Jockey C Habib reported that KAROO BOKKIE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
f) Trainer Z Oosthuizen was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate PEARLY ASH against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer Oosthuizen signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00.
g) VOORSMAAKIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC Miller was advised. (LM)
