THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AFTER HOURS (M K Katjedi) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) TIME FOR CHARITY (K A Brewer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 400m, CARNELO (M van Rensburg) was carried out by CAN'T CATCH ME (J Gates), which shifted out away from the crop and was corrected. b) Jockey P Strydom (CAPTAIN JIM) did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey P Strydom reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer F P Habib was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of CAPTAIN JIM on return to stables. c) Jockey R Danielson (ONE PARTY) did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey R Danielson reported that this filly did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer F Bronkhorst was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of CAPTAIN JIM on return to stables. d) Jockey C Maujean reported that BLACK LIGHTNING, which hung in from the 200m, did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) AFTER HOURS (M K Katjedi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
