THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BIG SPENDER (E Webber) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped slow, losing 5 lengths. b) TUNE AGAIN (M van Rensburg) was nervous in the stalls. c) GOTCHA BUZZ (S Khathi) refused to jump. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) NATURAL WONDER (*DB Geerthsen) took an awkward stride shortly after the start. b) STRING OF LIGHTS (C Maujean) shifted out sharply away from the crop at the 300m and was corrected. c) SERENDIPITOUS (G Wright) shifted out away from the crop from the 250m. d) Jockey K Minnie reported that IGISHA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockeys C Maujean and Y Ramzan appeared before the Board and were warned not to wander away from their respective mounts when dismounted behind the stalls for their pre-race saddle checks, in terms of Rule 61.5.6. They were further warned that should they continue with this practice in future, disciplinary action will be taken. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GOTCHA BUZZ (S Khathi), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 30 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to jump on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 09/11/2024 to 05/12/2024 inclusive). GOTCHA BUZZ may not be presented for re-passing during this period. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding BIG SPENDER (E Webber), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 09/11/2024 to 15/11/2024 inclusive). BIG SPENDER may not be presented for re-passing during this period. h) STRING OF LIGHTS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DA McKenzie was advised.
