THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISS VALENTYNA (S Naidoo) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length. b) CAPE FLOWER (G Wright) was nervous in the stalls and stood awkwardly. c) CHOC' LATE (*KJ Lihaba) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. d) SUMMER HEAT (X Ndlovu) and ROYAL VENUS (DB Geerthsen) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) GREENLIGHT DANCER (R Fourie) and REGINA LOU (M van Rensburg) over raced in the early and middle stages. b) At approximately the 150m REGINA LOU (M van Rensburg) had to be steadied momentarily off the heels of CHOC' LATE (*KJ Lihaba), which was hanging in from the 300 to the 150m. Thereafter, REGINA LOU (M van Rensburg) was steadied for a number of strides on the inside of LADY THEIA (C Maujean) and was switched out to obtain a clear run. c) GREENLIGHT DANCER (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 400m and was corrected. d) In view of the performance of CAPE FLOWER (G Wright), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) GREENLIGHT DANCER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) f) REGINA LOU, the fourth-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
