THE STARTER REPORTED: a) QUELIMANE (S Khathi) and TAKE YOUR TIME (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing one length. b) HIERSDIEDING (K Steyn) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) QUELIMANE (S Khathi) jumped inwards and made contact with PEARLY ASH (*KJ Lihaba). b) HOME REEF (C Maujean) and HIERSDIEDING (K Steyn) came together and bumped shortly after the start. c) PEARLY ASH (*KJ Lihaba) shifted out away from the crop at the 300m. d) At approximately the 300m ORANJEMUND (R Fourie) shifted inwards slightly and made contact with FEARLESS BADGER (M van Rensburg), which resulted in this gelding becoming unbalanced for a number of strides. e) At approximately the 200m TAKE YOUR TIME (X Ndlovu) shifted outwards to obtain clear running and thereafter commenced to hang inwards. f) Leaving the 200m COME ON YOU SPURS (Y Ramzan) was carried out by MAYOR OF MERRIVALE (D Schwarz), which shifted out away from the crop and was corrected. g) Jockey K Steyn reported that he felt something amiss with HIERSDIEDING and eased this gelding out of the race at approximately the 350m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. h) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with ORANJEMUND. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. i) Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on HIERSDIEDING, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2 000.00. j) TAKE YOUR TIME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised.
