THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JET FORCE (*I Taka) refused to load and was withdrawn. b) CORK BAY (C Orffer) threw its head down as the start was effected and thereafter was slow into stride. c) GURKHA (S Moodley) and HONORINE'S GIMMIE (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length. d) UMFULA (R Fourie) and WING WALKER (G Wright) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) During the loading process, Jockey G Lerena was dislodged and sustained a temporary compression of his right-side sciatic nerve, which rendered him unable to ride and required treatment from the paramedics at the start. This caused a lengthy delay. Due to time constraints, ELSINORE was withdrawn by the Stewards. b) Jockey O Noach reported that, in his opinion, the performance of KONNICHIWA was disappointing. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey A Domeyer reported that SUMMER SNOW was blowing post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the performance of CHARLIE BUCKET (JP van der Merwe), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. e) WING WALKER (G Wright) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding JET FORCE (*I Taka), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 17/11/2024 to 23/11/2024 inclusive). JET FORCE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. g) CORK BAY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
