THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RODRIGUEZ (C Maujean) jumped with its head up and lost 2 lengths. b) ROYAL SWAN MASTER (S Moodley) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) RODRIGUEZ (C Maujean) over-raced in the middle stages. b) At approximately the 800m IRISH LUCK stumbled badly, broke down and was eased out of the race by Jockey K Matsunyane. As a result IMAGINABLE (A Mgudlwa), RODRIGUEZ (C Maujean) and ROYAL SWAN MASTER (S Moodley) had to take evasive action to avoid the broken down horse. As a consequence of this IMAGINABLE (A Mgudlwa), RODRIGUEZ (C Maujean) and ROYAL SWAN MASTER (S Moodley) lost momentum and ground to the leading horses. c) KING'S ISLAND (S Veale) hung in from the 200m. d) Approaching the 50m FAMOUS WARRIOR (R A Venniker) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the heels of FORCE DE DIEU (C Habib) which shifted in marginally away from the crop and was immediately straightened. e) In view of the performance of RODRIGUEZ (C Maujean) (15.85 lengths, 10/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) KING'S ISLAND (S Veale), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S H Ferrie advised (NS). Trainer S Ferrie appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the improved performance of KING'S ISLAND (S Veale) compared to this gelding's previous performance on the 30 October 2024. He explained that in the previous race from a wide draw, KING'S ISLAND was unable to obtain a handy position as he usually adopts in races which resulted in him falling back and was unable to make up the ground. He was further of the opinion that KING'S ISLAND is more suited racing from a handy position, and by him taking the lead today, this attributed to the improvement shown. The Board noted this explanation. JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey S Moodley was the rider of ROYAL SWAN MASTER (advised 18.11.2024/12h30). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) IRISH LUCK : Fractured right front cannon bone. Euthanized on humane grounds. Specimens taken for analysis. b) RODRIGUEZ : Nothing obvious detected. SCRATCHINGS : a) WHISPERS OF WAR (AUS) : Under 8 day suspension (Trainer - 15.11.2024/10h41).
