THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LEAD THE CHARGE (P Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) RONDEBOSCH (S Moodley) jumped awkwardly inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, FRENCH BOLT (C Habib) and LEAD THE CHARGE (P Strydom), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls, came together and bumped. b) FRENCH BOLT (C Habib) shifted out sharply away from the crop shortly before the finish line. c) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with MASTER CASPER in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) KARATE KID (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
