During the loading process SUN IN MY POCKET became restless and reared, dislodging Jockey Habib. This filly was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently withdrawn. The horses were unloaded from the starting stalls and time was taken to allow the betting public to restructure their bets.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LITTLEBLACKGEM (R A Venniker) was stubborn to load. Trainer M L Roberts was advised to reschool this filly (TM).
b) SUN IN MY POCKET (C Habib) was difficult to load. Reared over in the stalls and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon.
c) ROY'S RANGER (S Hlengwa) lost 1 length.
d) PROMISE OF FIRE (K Matsunyane) lost 2 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) Shortly after the start PROMISE OF FIRE (K Matsunyane) was carried in by ROY'S GRACE (T Godden) which rolled in.
b) At the 700m SUNKA WAKAN (*D Pillay) was carried in marginally by DRESSSEDTOTHENINES (*B Marx-Jacobson) which was hanging in.
c) Apprentice B Marx-Jacobson (DRESSEDTOTHENINES) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride.
d) In view of the Starter's report and its history SUN IN MY POCKET's (C Habib) starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 30 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion on a race day. Suspension dates: 25.11.2024 to the 24.12.2024. SUN IN MY POCKET may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer W Whitehead was advised (TM).
e) LITTLEBLACKGEM (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts advised (DZ).
f) DRESSESTOTHENINES (*B Marx-Jacobson), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Gavin van Zyl acting on behalf of Trainer G van Zyl (Jnr) advised (SP).
