DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, BAY EMPIRE (C ZACKEY) BECAME RESTLESS AND REARED OVER INTO THE ADJACENT STALL GATE 1 OCCUPIED BY THE NAVY LARK (M K KATJEDI). BAY EMPIRE (C ZACKEY) AND THE NAVY LARK (M K KATJEDI) WERE RELEASED FROM THE STALLS, EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON. BAY EMPIRE (C ZACKEY) WAS DECLARED FIT TO RACE AND RELOADED. THE NAVY LARK (M K KATJEDI) WAS SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) BAY EMPIRE (C Zackey) was unruly in the stalls. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer S G Tarry was advised.
b) SECRET CHORD (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Shortly after the start, SEA SHANTY (J Penny) had its hind quarters turned inwards when bumped by SECRET CHORD (K Matsunyane), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
b) In view of the performance of WHAT A TIGER (P Strydom), (distance 8,30 lengths, betting 7/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) Jockey G Lerena reported that PENNSYLVANIA changed stride continually in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
d) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with BAY EMPIRE in running.
The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BAY EMPIRE, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion.
Suspension dates: 4 December 2024 to 10 December 2024. BAY EMPIRE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer S G Tarry was advised .
f) SECRET CHORD (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
