THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the canter past, TOWNSMAN dislodged Jockey K Steyn and returned to the parade ring, was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) OH YOKO (M Mjoka) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BOUNDLESS LOVE (JP van der Merwe), which was hanging out throughout, raced wide on the turn and into the straight. b) Jockey M Mjoka reported that OH YOKO changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey C Bantam was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline 3; Appendix E) in that he mis-used his crop by striking BLAME IT ON ME forward of the saddle at the 200m. Jockey C Bantam signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. d) Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R500,00. e) Jockey A Domeyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales. Jockey A Domeyer signed an admission of guilt and was fined R500,00. f) MASTEROFTHEDESERT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
