THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) On arriving at the start Jockey R Fourie expressed concern with SPRINGSTEEN's action while proceeding to the start. This filly was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn.
b) SYDNEY'S HORIZON (S Naidoo) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing two lengths.
c) TRILLION DREAMS (J Gates) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length.
d) FEEL THE WIND (S Khathi) was stubborn loading and slow into stride.
e) RUBY CLAIRE (DB Geerthsen) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Due to the weather conditions and intermittent rain, the Trainers were advised not to send their horses into the parade ring. The Jockeys mounted in the saddling area and proceeded directly to the start.
b) SYDNEY'S HORIZON (S Naidoo) and TRILLION DREAMS (J Gates), which jumped slow, raced detached from the field for the entire race.
c) TUNE AGAIN (Y Ramzan) was hanging out and shifted out away from the crop from the 250m and was corrected.
d) PINK MOON (K Minnie) shifted out away from the crop from the 150m.
e) Jockey S Khathi reported that FEEL THE WIND did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) PINK MOON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM)
g) TUNE AGAIN, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer A Lotz, acting on behalf of Trainer L Lotz, was advised. (LM)
