THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) JADE'S CABERNEIGH (C Zackey) was nervous in the stalls and kicked the back gates of the starting stalls.
b) DOUBLE TRADE (DB Geerthsen) jumped slow, losing one length.
c) SEE YOU IN A BIT (S Khathi) and SHARAPOVA (R Fourie) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) SEE YOU IN A BIT (S Khathi) was buffeted between FROSTY RECEPTION (K Matsunyane), which jumped outwards and PITON DE NEIGE (K Steyn), which jumped inwards slightly shortly after the start.
b) DOUBLE TRADE was slow into stride and failed to respond to Jockey DB Geerthsen's urgings and raced detached from the field throughout.
c) MEDITERANEANGODDES (J Gates) refused to take the bend and raced wide around the turn and into the straight.
d) PROJECT RUNWAY (C Maujean) was hanging in from the 400m and was corrected at the 200m.
e) In view of the performance of DOUBLE TRADE (DB Geerthsen) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables.
f) JADE'S CABERNEIGH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM)
