THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JUAN CARLOS (X Ndlovu) was stubborn loading. b) NEBRAAS (D Schwarz) kicked the back gates in the stalls and jumped awkwardly. c) RUNAWAY SONG (DB Geerthsen) jumped slow, losing one length. d) MEDLERS TART (M van Rensburg) and ANATOLIAN SILVER (E Webber) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ANATOLIAN SILVER (E Webber) was bumped outwards by JUAN CARLOS (X Ndlovu), which was carried outwards by ZATARA MAGIC (JP van der Merwe). Simultaneously, DOWNING SEVEN (*J Botes) shifted in slightly, which resulted in ANATOLIAN SILVER (E Webber) being further buffeted between JUAN CARLOS (X Ndlovu) and DOWNING SEVEN (*J Botes). b) ANATOLIAN SILVER (E Webber) over raced in the early and middle stages. c) Jockey M van Rensburg reported that MEDLERS TART made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) ZATARA MAGIC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer DG Smith, acting on behalf of Trainer GD Smith, was advised. (LM) e) JUAN CARLOS, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
