THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SWEETIE DARLING (C Little) was restless in the stalls. b) MARITZBURG MEMORY (S Veale) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SWEETIE DARLING (C Little) raced without cover in the early stages and as a consequence, proved difficult to settle. b) Approaching the 400m MARITZBURG MEMORY (S Veale) was steadied briefly when close to the heels of MIRACULOUS (K Matsunyane). c) Jockey C Little reported that SWEETIE DARLING did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey M Mjoka was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that struck FIGURE EIGHT with the crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey M Mjoka signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1 000.00. e) LA DIVINA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
