THE STARTER REPORTED: a) STREWN SKY (P Strydom), AMERICAN REBEL (L Nhlapo) and GREENHOUSE (MK Katjedi) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 150m Jockey MK Katjedi (GREENHOUSE) accidentally struck the crop out of the grasp of Jockey C Maujean (HONORABLE MEMBER). b) Trainer PP Labuschagne was questioned regarding the improved performance of HAT TRICK OR TREAT (P Mxoli). He could offer no suitable explanation. Trainer P Labuschagne's attention was drawn to the Rule pertaining to inconsistent running. c) In view of the performance of STREWN SKY (P Strydom) (Betting 9/4; Distance 7.20 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) HAT TRICK OR TREAT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Labuschagne was advised. (MdP) e) KUDZU, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
