THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE CANE TRAIN (K Matsunyane) was restless in the stalls and broke through the front gates, was restrained by its Rider and returned to the start, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded, causing a delay b) NEW MEXICO (C Habib) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MISS PREDATOR (JR Syster), which raced prominently throughout, tired badly from the 400m. b) At approximately the 300m Jockey L Nhlapo felt something amiss with CALIDA and eased this gelding out of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the report from the Starter regarding THE CANE TRAIN (K Matsunyane), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load with a companion. (Suspension dates: 25/12/2024 to 31/12/2024 inclusive). THE CANE TRAIN may not be presented for re-passing during this period. d) NEW MEXICO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
