THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) On arriving at the start Jockey J Gates expressed concern with GO DREAM MACHINE's action while proceeding to the start. This filly was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn.
b) SNEAK PREVIEW (M van Rensburg) jumped inwards leaving the stalls.
c) GLORIA MUNDI (J Penny) jumped outwards leaving the stalls.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race and the veterinary check on and subsequent withdrawal of GO DREAM MACHINE (J Gates).
b) Shortly after the start MARY READ stumbled badly and dislodged Jockey P Strydom. Jockey P Strydom was attended to on course by the paramedics and transported to the medical centre for further observation. Jockey P Strydom was subsequently transported to hospital for further examination.
c) At approximately the 1400m the saddle on AMBITIOUS LADY slipped forward, which resulted in this filly racing wide around the turn and into the straight, placing Apprentice T Mayhew at a disadvantage and he was unable to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
d) Jockey Wes Marwing felt something amiss with PRETTY IN PEARLS in running and eased this mare out from the 400m The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
e) SILVER PARASOL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AG Laird was advised. (MdP)
