THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SWEET NOTHINGS (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ELEGANT APPEAL (S Naidoo) jumped awkwardly outwards and made slight contact with ANGEL OF MY HEART (C Zackey) shortly after the start. b) LADY THEIA (C Maujean), which raced without cover, over raced in the early and middle stages. c) Leaving the 1200m ANGEL OF MY HEART (C Zackey) had to steady momentarily off the heels of PEARLY ASH (*J Botes), which shifted inwards to take a position next to the inside running rail. Apprentice J Botes appeared before the Board and was advised to make sure he is sufficiently clear before shifting ground. He was further advised that should he ride in a similar manner in future engagements, disciplinary measures may be meted out. d) POISE PANACHE (DB Geerthsen) raced wide around the bend, shifted out away from the crop and raced in isolation parallel to the outside running rail in the straight. e) ELEGANT APPEAL (S Naidoo) shifted outwards away from the crop from the 200m and made slight contact with SWEET NOTHINGS (R Fourie), which shifted inwards slightly before the finish line. f) In view of the performance of LADY THEIA (C Maujean) (Betting 25/1; Distance 23.10 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer TJ Laing was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. g) In view of the performance of LADY SONATINE (E Webber) (Betting 10/1; Distance 8.10 lengths), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. h) SWEET NOTHINGS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
