THE STARTER REPORTED: a) NKANDLA GOLD (M K Katjedi) was restless in the stalls. Lost 3 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As the start was effected NKANDLA GOLD (M K Katjedi) became restless, threw it head to the right which resulted in the handler allocated to this gelding being pulled off balance and him being slightly late releasing NKANDLA GOLD (M K Katjedi). The Board was satisfied that this incident was caused by the horses own behaviour alone and therefore took no further action. b) YAMADORI (G Lerena) hung in from the 400m. When taking into consideration this gelding's history of hanging in races, Trainer J J van Vuuren was advised to take the necessary corrective measures to improve YAMADORI's racing manners c) JOHNNY APPLESEED (C Maujean), after racing prominently throughout, tired badly in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) JUST THE TWO OF US (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
