THE STARTER REPORTED: a) As the loading process commenced, FORCE EIGHT (K Derere) rushed the front gates, resulting in PRINCE OF DENMARK breaking through and dislodging Jockey K A Brewer. Jockey K A Brewer was attended to by the paramedics and passed fit to race. FORCE EIGHT was restrained by Jockey K Derere. FORCE EIGHT (K Derere) and PRINCE OF DENMARK (K A Brewer) were returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) FORCE EIGHT (K Derere) was slow, losing two lengths. Stable Employee M Mallet, acting on behalf of Trainer A Parham, was advised to reschool FORCE EIGHT prior to her next engagement (WD). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey K A Brewer (PRINCE OF DENMARK) did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. b) Jockey K Derere (FORCE EIGHT) appeared before the Board and was advised to ride his mounts out to the end of the race. He was further advised that failing a safety or veterinary concern that he should ride with at least hands and heels in similar circumstances to ensure that the finishing margin is a true reflection of the race. c) TOM'S DINER (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G Macleod advised (AH). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FORCE EIGHT raced equipped with alumites (declared 12 January 2025 at 10H19). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PRINCE OF DENMARK abnormal respiratory noise. SCRATCHED: a) HEMLOCK swollen right front (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
