MOUNTAIN HIGH (P STRYDOM) PROVED RELUCTANT PROCEEDING TO THE START AND HAD TO BE LED BY A HANDLER. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BELLA BOOP BOOP (L Nhlapo) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GIMME A GREEN CARD (D De Gouveia) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MOUNTAIN HIGH (P Strydom) proved reluctant proceeding to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer S G Tarry to be advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) Shortly after the start, MOUNTAIN HIGH (P Strydom) was bumped in by BERRIESOFTHESTRAW (J Gates), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. Shortly thereafter, BERRIESOFTHESTRAW (J Gates) and MOUNTAIN HIGH (P Strydom) were carried in by FLIGHTLIGHT (R Munger), which rolled in. c) SUMMER WINTER (*N Nastili) over-raced in the early and middle stages. d) Jockey P Strydom appeared before the board and was questioned regarding his ride on MOUNTAIN HIGH with particular reference to his lack of vigour between the 400m and 300m. He explained that he had concerns regarding this filly's movement in that she was uncomfortable with her action, however after switching out off the heels of AFTERSHOCK (*K J Lihaba), MOUNTAIN HIGH had sustained a finishing effort. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey N Klink reported that he felt something amiss with VILLA SEMAYA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) GIMME PASSION (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Houdalakis advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) VILLA SEMAYA was ridden by Jockey N Klink (declared 15 January 2025 at 10H32). Stipes permission as Jockey R Danielson experienced flight complications. b) LIKE A PRAYER was ridden by Jockey C Maujean (declared 16 January 2025 at 07H23). c) GIMME PASSION was ridden by Jockey D De Gouveia (declared 16 January 2025 at 08H05). Stipes permission as Jockey C Zackey experienced flight complications. d) BERRIESOFTHESTRAW was ridden by Jockey J Gates (declared 16 January 2025 at 09H03). Stipes permission as Jockey M Yeni experienced flight complications RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) VILLA SEMAYA raced equipped with blinkers (declared 13 January 2025 at 08H01). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) MOUNTAIN HIGH lame left front, cast its left front shoe in running. b) VILLA SEMAYA post race distress. c) SUMMER WINTER abnormal respiratory noise. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
