EN ROUTE TO THE START, DESTINY FULFILLED BECAME RESTLESS, DISLODGED JOCKEY WES MARWING AND BOLTED THE COURSE. THIS GELDING WAS TAKEN IN HAND, EXAMINED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON AND SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN ALEXIA (C Zackey) was stubborn loading. b) DYLAN'S CHAMP (P Strydom) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) APACHE CHIEF (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. d) FIZZLY BUBBLY (J R Syster) and IMMEDIATE EDGE (R Munger) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DESTINY FULFILLED (Wes Marwing) bolted the course and was subsequently scratched by the Veterinary Surgeon. When taking this gelding's history of intractability into consideration, he has been suspended in terms of Rule 93.2.4, until such time as he proves tractable cantering to the start on a Raceday. Trainer F P Habib advised (LA). b) Shortly after the start, KNIGHT'S FIRE (D Schwarz) and FOLLOW THE MASTER (J Gates) were squeezed out by DYLAN'S CHAMP (P Strydom), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls, and APACHE CHIEF (G Lerena), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) COUNT HUHTIKUU (K Matsunyane) over-raced in the early stages. d) At the 600m, the neck strap on PROLIFIC STAR (R Danielson) became detached. e) In the concluding stages, COUNT HUHTIKUU (K Matsunyane), which hung in from the 300m, was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of DYLAN'S CHAMP (P Strydom), which rolled out. This precluded Jockey K Matsunyane (COUNT HUHTIKUU) from fully assisting his mount out to the end of the race, f) CHIEFTAIN'S SHIELD (P Mxoli) took an awkward stride in the concluding stages. g) In view of the performance of GOLDEN ALEXIA (C Zackey), (distance 9,15 lengths, betting 4/1), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. h) Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with KNIGHT'S FIRE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. i) IMMEDIATE EDGE (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P Dlhamini, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (AH). Race 2 contd. JOCKEY CHANGES: a) None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) PIBE DE ORO raced equipped with ear muffs (declared 21 January 2025 at 08H19). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) GOLDEN ALEXIA not striding out left hind, brush wound left hind. b) KNIGHT'S FIRE not striding out right front.
