THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GIMMETHATPEARL (C Zackey) was restless in the stalls. b) LICKETY SPLIT (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter, was slow into stride. c) JOY AND PEACE (R Fourie) jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After jumping awkwardly, JOY AND PEACE (R Fourie) raced from a rearward position. When questioned regarding the performance of JOY AND PEACE, Jockey R Fourie told the Stewards that, although he was not entirely disappointed with the performance of JOY AND PEACE, she had felt all at sea on the left-handed turn and had been on the wrong leg throughout. The Stewards noted his explanation. b) OMIKAMI (J Solomons) commenced to shift outwards in the closing stages and had to be straightened. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) In view of the performance of LICKETY SPLIT (JP van der Merwe), which was not persevered with in the closing stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) RAINBOW LORIKEET, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (TL) e) TIME FOR LOVE, the second-placed horse, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Rix was advised.
