THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AMBER EYES (*G Dookhit) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) MESSALINA (M K Katjedi) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, ROAMING SPIRIT (G Lerena), LILAC SNOW (R Munger), CAPE SAFFRON (J R Syster) and TRAIL RUNNER (C Zackey) suffered various degrees of interference when awkwardly placed between AMBER EYES (*G Dookhit), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls, and MESSALINA (M K Katjedi), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) LILAC SNOW (R Munger) over-raced in the early stages. c) Jockey G Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride ROAMING SPIRIT out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards. Jockey G Lerena signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) ROAMING SPIRIT (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
