DURING THE LOADING PROCESS, STORM BRASCO (M YENI) BECAME RESTLESS, WAS REMOVED FROM THE STALLS, EXAMINED BY THE COURSE VETERINARY SURGEON, PASSED FIT TO RACE AND WAS RELOADED. THIS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILENT WAR (M K Katjedi) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) MARAUDING HORDE (K Matsunyane) and MASTER CHRISTMAS (J Penny) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly before the finish line, SON OF RAJ (G Lerena) was bumped in by SILENT WAR (M K Katjedi), which shifted in independently away from the crop and thereafter was carried in by THUNEE PLAYA (K A Brewer), which shifted in away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board, which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey M K Katjedi, on behalf of the second-placed horse, SILENT WAR, against the winner, THUNEE PLAYA (K A Brewer), on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. This was followed by an objection being lodged by Mr S Chetty, owner of the third-placed horse, SON OF RAJ (G Lerena) against the winner, THUNEE PLAYA (K A Brewer), also on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Board after giving regard to the evidence presented in both objections by the relevant parties, and taking into account the distance between the horses, the proximity to the finish line and the independent movement of SILENT WAR (M K Katjedi) from the crop, was of the opinion that this incident had not affected the result, overruled both the Objections and allowed the Judges result to stand. Jockey M K Katjedi and Mr S Chetty's deposits were refunded. ' An inquiry will be opened into this incident. b) THUNEE PLAYA (K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Pandaram advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) THUNEE PLAYA scalp wound left hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None. Race 7 contd.
