FOLLOWING THE RUNNING OF RACE 8, BOTH THE AMBULANCE AND THE COURSE PARAMEDICS RETURNED TO THE MEDICAL CENTRE AND ASSISTED IN THE TREATMENT OF APPRENTICE T MAYHEW. THEY COULD NOT BE DISPATCHED TO THE START UNTIL THE TRANSFER AMBULANCE HAD ARRIVED. THIS CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CIRCUS LIGHTS (P Mxoli) refused to jump. The starting stall certificate for this gelding has been withdrawn. Trainer G J Maroun will be advised (GT). b) PACIFIC (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 300m, TWICE AS WILD (*N Nastili) was carried in by KOMATI RIVER (G Lerena), which was directed inwards away from the heels of SMELTING (J R Syster) to continue its run. b) In view of the Starter's report with regard to CIRCUS LIGHTS, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and he is suspended indefinitely in terms of Rule 61.6.10 until such time as he proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion on two Raceday's. Trainer G J Maroun to be advised c) KOMATI RIVER (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MS).
