THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE TONGUE TIE ON MATTIAZO (G LERENA) HAVING TO BE REPLACED AT THE START. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MATTIAZO (G Lerena) and FLIGHTLIGHT (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GHOSTBUSTER (R Munger) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. c) AURORA GREEN (M Yeni) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, GHOSTBUSTER (R Munger), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls, and MATTIAZO (G Lerena), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls, came together and bumped. b) As the start was effected, GIMME A GREEN CARD (K Matsunyane) was brushed in by FLIGHTLIGHT (C Zackey), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. c) At approximately the 200m, FLIGHTLIGHT (C Zackey), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between MATTIAZO (G Lerena), which hung out from the 300m, and AURORA GREEN (M Yeni), which shifted in away from the crop. d) In view of the performance of FLIGHTLIGHT (C Zackey), (distance 9,15 lengths, betting 9/4), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) GHOSTBUSTER (R Munger), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Verdonese advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) MATTIAZO raced with a tongue tie on (declared 24 January 2025 at 03H31).
