THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO THE DELAY IN THE PREVIOUS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OPEN HIGHWAY (K Matsunyane) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) MINOGUE (C Zackey) jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, SILVER TUDOR (D De Gouveia) was bumped in by MINOGUE (C Zackey), which jumped inwards sharply leaving the stalls. b) NETTLETON (P Strydom), which raced prominently throughout, tired badly and Jockey P Strydom did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. Thereafter, he reported that he felt something amiss with mare in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) At approximately the 100m, MERCANTOUR (P Mxoli) was carried in marginally by ONE FELL SWOOP (G Lerena), which hung in from the 200m. Thereafter, Jockey G Lerena, the rider of ONE FELL SWOOP, accidentally dropped his crop shortly before the finish line. d) MERCANTOUR (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee C Jena, acting on behalf of Trainer P F Matchett, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACECARD CHANGES / OTHER: None.
